    Corvette Central on ebay

Is the item below that is on Ebay from THE Corvette Central? This seems a little odd that thet would put stuff on Ebay. Jim

Yes, that's CC; they sell lots of stuff on eBay that they acquire in odd lots inbetween catalog printings, or in quantities that are too small to publish in the catalog at all.

Nothing new there- they've been selling on eBay for about 4 years I think. I bought an NOS grill from them - very smooth transaction once they figured out that Montreal isn't in Europe.

Several of the catalog parts houses...

are active in using eBay as an alternative distribution channel. Some parts distributors, including conventional warehouse distributors and dealership parts departments have created in-house (or subcontracted to 3rd parties) eBay specialty departments. It's just another way to market that has its own unique cost structure and 'rules of the road'....

CC has a new agreement with Ottawa

On my recent motor trip (Calgary to Montreal via Chicago) I stopped in at their Sawyer Mich. facility to buy up a few parts. They charged me the 7% Goods and Service Tax that I would have had to pay if imported into the Great White North. Apparently they're supposed to remit to Ottawa (yeah, right).

              Wayne,
Actually they do have an agreement with the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA). Provincial Sales Tax (PST) and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) are charged by CC upfront and remitted to the Government of Canada. This basically means that the UPS or FedEx folks can drop the shipment at your front door without collecting those taxes by credit card or cheque. This is convenient for me as I am not normally home when the couriers arrive. You have to pay it anyway so why not upfront?

Doesn't this also do away with "Brokerage Fees"?

                    Gary,
No. That bar code scan on one border side and the other still adds up to 24% sometimes. I will not rant on what NAFTA free trade really means. Far from free.
