C3 Fuel Tank Overflow Hose Followup Question

I'd like to thanks all that replied to my original post, especially Geoffrey. That video was very informative. One last question about the mounting of the hose. The AIM seems to show the hose strapped to the rear valence support and the hose terminate flush with the bottom of the valence, where as the picture with the installation kit shows the hose terminating inside the right rear bumper.

There is a small opening where the bumper mount is, but it seemed too small for the hose to fit.

Can someone tell me exactly where the hose terminates?

    Thanks

    Robert

Hose WILL fit between the bottom of the bumper bracket and the lower inside of the bumper as shown in the AIM, but it's a tight fit.... My copy of the AIM ('65) has a nice descriptive note on placement of the overflow hose w.r.t. the the bumper....

"End of hose flush to 1/2-inch back from edge of bumperette"

As usual, thanks Jack. Is there any possibility that someone out there could email a picture of theirs so I can duplicate the routing.

      Thanks

Robert, I judged 12 68-72s at Waco and there wasn't one car with the correct fuel overflow hose installation. You need to "grease down"or put a dab of Vaselene on the end of the hose so it will slide througe the upper opening hole in the bumper spear. The hose should have a spring inside the end. The end should be even with the bottom of the bumper spear.

Bob, After spending the last hour trying to fish that hose through the bumper horn, I know why you didn't see any installed. The bolt that holds the bumper protrudes way too far for the hose to pass through. I couldn't get my socket wrench into that small a space to loosen that bolt.

          Any suggestions?

          Robert

Yes Robert, I know what you mean. I had to angle cut one side of the end of the hose, punch a small hole near the end, loop a wire through the hole. Then you a gob of grease on the end of the hose and ,using the wire to pull on, pull it through. After you get it through square cut the end and install the spring inside if it isn't there already.

Re: C3 Fuel Tank Overflow Hose Followup Question

Bob, one last question if I may. Does it matter which bumber the hose exits? The AIM seems to show it through the right side. There is no way (unless I remove the bumper) will I get it through there, but no problem on the left bumber.

              Thanks

              Robert
