I have a GM reissue front or rear corvette emblem for my 58. I know it should be gold and not silver, and I was able to succesfully remove the silver without harming the red and white. Is there a way I can paint the Gold and what type of gold should it be?

Re: C1, 58 front and rear emblem, Gold Paint??
Bill,
The gold or silver in the emblems is not painted but electroplated which gives it that nice smooth finish. I doubt you would be able to duplicate the finish but if it's just a driver, then go for it.
Trim Parts and many Corvette Parts Houses sells the emblem for $59.95 or less.

I was looking for NCRS points, I can not find the correct emblems. I have the trim parts on, but the letters are poor.- Top

Bill,
Hate to say this but Trim Parts emblems are about 200% better than anything that GM put on any C-1. Your judges probably have never seen an original gold emblem from GM. Have a heart to heart talk with the judges and I'm sure it will pass.
If the emblems you have are really bad I would send them back to Trim Parts for and exchange. They will take care of the situation to your satisfaction without question.

I will give trim parts a call. The judges found fault with the letters being round, such as the openings in the letter "E". With the original GM emblem all letters are sharp.- Top

The original gold emblems are much thicker in the center section than the GM re-issue or the reproductions. If you look at an original from the back they are almost flat across the back. The center is close to 1/2" thick. It looks like trim parts used the re-issue design and changed the silver letters to gold.- Top
