    Vent window regulator rebuild

I am investigating the best method to rebuild my vent window regulators. I found a website, Corvetteusa.com that sells a new gear and spring washer and a search of the archives turned up a fellow named Dennis at Wood Machine that supposedly did a good job for someone. Does anyone have any recommendations?
    Thanks.

Regulators are for sale at the major vendors for $125. Rebuilding sacrifices the swagged rivets. If you're looking for originality you may want to buy new.

      Thanks Steve,
The rivets aren't a big concern for me.

rebuild your regulators. rivets not judgable. i must have a couple dozen nors regulators i bought in the late 70's thru early 90's. they are all junk---wouildn't come close to passing a PV. too much play. i rebuild my originals or disassemble the nors and shim them to pass PV. mike

          Scott,
You may want to check out the February 2005 issue of Corvette Enthusiast magazine.

On page 76 there is a good article by Tom Benford titled ReinVENTING the window. It includes information on the rebuild kit and how to install.

I put one of those kits in my 67. Took a lot longer to get the regulator out than it did to rebuild it. Has worked great for a couple of years.

I had my 66 convertible regulators rebuilt by a guy from the Chicago area who advertises in the Driveline. Cost about $60/regulator-- very good job. This is cheaper than I could buy the parts and rebuild myself. Turnaround time - 1 week.

The guy in the driveline is Dennis Hardesty. You can reach him at (618)344-0021. He does great work and quick turnaround.

                  Gene,
I can't say I have ever seen that magazine, is that an article something you can scan or fax me a copy of?

                    Scott,
Sorry, but I do not have any scanning or faxing capability. You can purchase Corvette Enthusiast magazine at the Barnes & Knoble book store.

I like it enough that I recently subscribed. Last month there was a great article about keeping your mid-year from going up in smoke. Also, a good article about C1 gas gauge problems.

                    Gene
