C1 Soft top felt

Would anyone be able to help me with the dimensions of the felt for a C1 that is glued to the fuel tank cover that protects the soft top when it is down? Also, what is the positioning and location of it when it is properly installed. Thanks a bunch in advance!

Kevin,
The item you are looking for is available through Corvette Central, Paragon and probably others. The ones that I have seen and the way I put it on was basically centered where a portion of it sits directly on the upper flat surface and the rest flows down the rear portion to the rear-most flat surface. If you look at where your top sits when down, place it centered under that, you should be OK. I have never lost points for positioning of this item. BTW- is is more similar to a very flat velvet as opposed to traditional felt. If I recall, it was in the ballpark of $25 to $30 retail.

The felt-like material was actually mohair. I purchased mohair at a high end fabric shop and it was expensive. Judges may not deduct for using the readily available felt from aftermarket sources.

Kevin, I sketched the location of the mohair on my 59 when I removed the original. It starts 5" from the fiberglass behind the seats and is set in 6" from each side. I have the size of the mohair but I will have to remove the cover to measure it. I will do so if you want me to. Hope this helps. Regards and good luck, Jimmy
