    C1 58-60: Underbody color

    Hi all,

Another question needed to be answered to continue our frame/body restoration: does the underbody needs to be painted (if so what colour) or stay unpainted (bare glassfiber colour).

    greetings,
    Rob.

    Rob,
Underbody was unpainted except where blacked out. These areas include the inside of the wheelwells and the spare tire well where visible from the outside. Of course the firewall and the portion of the trans tunnell that is visible from the engine compartment were also blacked out. The remainder of the underbody was bare glass.

        Re: C1 58-60: Underbody color

        Rob,
Just the portion of the spare tire well where it can be seen from the outside of the car. The sides of the well and the rear were it shows from under the body, but not necessarily the bottom surface that faces the road or the front surface that faces the rear axle. They made an effort to black out any bare glass the showed from the outside of the car under normal circumstances. They did not waste any effort in painting the inside tops of the wheelwells, or the outer side of the wheelwells, since they did not show to someone standing out side the car.

        Regards, John McGraw
