    '70 Mirror

I have a question concerning the driver side mirror on my '70 vert. The plastic gasket between the door and the mirror is larger then the base of the mirror. The length is okay but the width at the widest point is larger then necessary. I have ordered another gasket p/n 461133 and it is the same size. The mirror is not original (no date code on glass) but appears to be the right one (small head) for a '70. The witdth of the mirror base at the gasket is 1 1/4" while the gasket is 1 1/2". Do I have the wrong gasket or wrong mirror? If the mirror is wrong, where can I get a correct quality one with date on glass? Thanks.

That pt# gasket has been that much oversize for at least 20 years. The best you can do is center the gasket under the mirrow so that the excess is divided from side to side

Thanks Dick, I thought that maybe I had a repro mirror with the incorrect size base and could buy another. From your response it sounds like that would not solve the problem. Probably not much chance of finding an NOS gasket??
