    What does this symbol mean??

I ran across some RPO brake shoes for my 58'. They have this symbol stamped on them. Any clue as to what it stands for?
    D P
    C D

The "D" is over the "C" and the "P" is over the"D" and the "P & D" connect to each other.
    Maybe Delco products?

Re: What does this symbol mean??

I think this is an old symbol from my Chrysler / Dodge / Plymouth days. Back in the 50's it was used on Dodge products. If I remember correctly it stood for Dodge Products / Chrysler Division.

I guess it is possible that brake shoes could have overlaping carline applications. I think somehwere I have a picture of this symbol if I can find it I will try to post it just to see if we are talking about the same symbol.

Don't hold me to this, but I think that the letters you see are friction material codes as developed by the Friction Materials Institute. You see two letter markings on some shoes today

That was Friction Material Standard Institure (FMSI)

The Chrysler logos were CD DD

I think those shoes were made long before the FMSI standards went into effect.

No, not really unless you count the rust on the segmented pads. More of a darker slate but definetely metallic because a magnet will gently cling to it.
