When the outside temp is hot, there's a high pitch whistling noise from the carb that can be heard at idle only. It went away for a short time after one of the gaskets was replaced. If I remember right, it was the carb to base gasket. The carb is a correct, undated 3367 replacement holley, and runs fine otherwise. Any suggestions to permanently fix the problem?

Re: '66 SMALL BLOCK CARB "WHISTLING NOISE"
Try to determine if the whistle is from the gasket area or the butterflies in the throttle bores. Run you finger or wadded rag around the base area while the engine is running and whistling to see if you can alter the whistle. If not, the bores/throttles may be the source. Try adjusting the idle by increasing/decreasing the idle jets (don't forget to count/note the turns so you can return to your original settings) and adjusting the idle setting to alter the position of the throttle plates. Also check the intake to head gaskets seal using a rag to see if you can alter the sound.
Good Luck.....- Top
