GM parts specs

Gentelmen,
I hope you will indulge me in a little off topic post. I am looking at a GM part # 8637742, Is there any way to get the specs for this part? This is supposed to be an adapter to replace the quick-disconnect fittings on the trans cooler lines on a 4L60E trans, and replace them with flare type lines. Unfortunately, they do not specify whether the flares are SAE or AN and the do not specify whether the flare in the fitting is male or female. I can make either work, but I just need to know which fittings to buy in addition to the GM parts. I am getting real close to firing the 59 up, and just don't want to wait until the GM fittings to arrive to find out what other parts to buy.

There is no easy way to get specs for a GM part that I know of. In a case like you have I think the easiest thing to do would be to just "reverse engineer" it from the part. In other words, try the different fittings until you get the one that works. Return the fittings you don't need.

That part has a 1/2-20 UNF thread on the female hex end and a 1/4-18 straight pipe thread at the other...hope this helps
