Have located a gentleman with NOS RWL Goodyear Wide Tread F70-15. I would use these for judging only. Are there date codes or anything I should look for to make sure they are correct for my car built in June 71? Judging manual refers to raised "Load Range B" and a DOT stamp. What is contained on the DOT stamp? These tires are fairly expensive and I don't want to get wrong ones. Thanks

Re: 71 Tire Folowup Question
David,
Your car would need a tire with the long 11 digit alpha/numeric code. Any tire manufactured after January 1971 will have that "long" code. The last 3 numbers indicate the date of manufacture of the tire. For instance my 71 is a May 11, 1971 build. The original tires are dated(last 3 numbers) 171 for the 17th week of 1971. These tires are hard enough to find but having a tire predate the build of the car by a reasonable time period adds another complication.- Top

Re: 71 Tire Folowup Question
Robert,
It may well be a 71 original tire. If your car was built in 1970 you would have the "short" date. There is only one person I know who can decode that tire. Hopefully he will read the post and assist you.- Top
