69 - Formed, fresh air duct

Can anyone guide me to a source, used or new, for a right side, molded 90 degree, fresh air vent duct for 69 conv. w/no A.C.? I'm told by my usual "new parts" sources that these are not reproduced. Used would be fine if I could find one. Thanks, jackdr

    Jack,

Have you looked in the "Driveline" for those vendors who dismantle Corvettes and contacted any of them? Paragon is just one of many NOS part manufacturers that also has many "recyclable" Vette parts. You might even run your own add under "Parts Wanted." Good luck, and if you find a source for same, let us know here on the technical board, I am sure there are others out here also looking.

Jack, On a 1969, isn't the same RH duct used with or without A/C? Is it basically a 2 piece assembly with a short 90 degree elbow riveted on the dash outlet end and number 3949988 molded on it? Dave

No, Dave, I do not think it is used on the AC cars. I think it is much different. This piece was part number 3956313, according to the assembly manual, with LH or RH designation. This duct is about 10" long with a 2-3/4" inside diameter and the 90 degree bend is on the end opposite the dash. The vent opening is molded into the sidewall of the car, just above the kickplate. This molding has a metal loop riveted into it and at the opposite end of the loop, a stud is attached. The duct elbow fits over this loop and a wingnut on the stud, holds the duct onto the sidewall. The other end attaches to the dash just behind the diverter ball. The LH and RH are not interchangable due to slits in the "diverter ball" end which allow the vent knob linkage to operate. I have tried Paragon, Zip and a few other sources advertising used parts. No luck there. My renewal to NCRS is due and perhaps I will send an ad for the mag. Appreciate the suggestion and the interest.
