    C1: window regulator restoration

Hi all. I've got a punchlist of several things that I want to get done this winter for my '61. One is repairing my door windows. Cranking is stiff, to say the least. I'm thinking that replacing the window regulators might be needed. Any lessons to share before I start, so I can avoid problems?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Best regards from Kansas City,
    Tony

worn out regulators(TEETH MISSING FROM THE FIXED PORTION OF THE GEAR MECHANISM) doesn't usually cause stiffness in rolling up the window. stiffness usually results in repo fuzzies/channels.try adjusting the door window post foreward a tad. good luck, mike

I'll also add to Mike's reply, after just doing mine this spring, a thorough cleaning of all moving parts, with relubing does wonders too!

Mike: I think you suggested a while ago to spray the channels with a silicone lubricant to make them crank easier. Especially if you have Repo felts.

What does it mean when, rolling down the window, the rearmost portion of the side window drops precipitously, and is difficult to roll up without manually raising that portion of the window?

                  Chris...

Check the guide rail, the rear roller on the regulator may be out of the track or worn out.

Also, the assembly is adjustable to insure that the window rolls up and down in a level fashion. Several minutes spent playing with the adjustments usually produces good results. (Use your Geometry from school!)
