I have 2 different pieces that are supposed to fit on the engine side of the firewall and support the steering column by bolting through to the flange which on the driver's compartment side. The car is an automatic transmission, 70 convertible built in June 1970. One is a T shaped, one piece unit which is supposed to hold a theft prevention cable. The other unit is a tear shaped, 2 piece thing which has screws that hold the two pieces around the column. It has a rubber weaher seal on the firewall side. Which one is correct and any ideas for uses of the other would be appreciated.
Jeff, see your AIM, UPC 9, Sheets A3/A4/A5, for details on the column installation. For more detail on the transmission interlock cable, see UPC 7, Sheets B4/B5. I could be wrong, but the "tear shaped, 2 piece thing" you describe does not sound familiar in context of C3 Corvettes.
