C1 Sealed air cleaner ended when?

Trying to decide on sealed or not. At what point is the sealed or non-seal air cleaner correct? My car is a 60 vin 000487.

I think early 60s were still sealed. Later they had a replacable filter.

Hi Larry, I also have a 1960, #512 and I have the sealed, one piece air cleaner. My car was built Oct.14, 1959. In Noland Adams's 1953-62 restoration book it talks about the date of the change-over on page 230/231 and shows a picture from the 1960 AIM (assembly manual). It shows that the carburetor was changed from Carter 2818S (that mine has) to 3059S, and the air cleaner from sealed (PN #1553495) to 2-piece (PN #5645689)on October 19,1959. I am not totally sure what serial # that would be but in the Corvette Central catalog it says "Sealed type air cleaners were used to approx. Serial #900 in 1960". Don't know how accurate that # would be. Hope this helps.
