66 fuel pump & headlight motor rebuilds

I'm rebuilding my 66 327/350HP original fuel pump with no instructions from the rebuild kit. I've got the large plunger with spring unhooked from the actuator linkage. However there is a grommet that looks to be internal and goes around the shaft of the replaceable plunger. My grommet is trashed, is this part replaceable? I'm thinking the intent of this grommet is to keep the oil and fuel separated. Any thoughts, is my unit salvageable? Can that grommet be replaced, if so how?

Also rebuilding the headlight motors. In both headlight motors the drive gears are fairly beat up. $25 a piece for new ones, but I thought I had heard you can pull them off their shaft and turn them around??? If this works I'd like to know how to do it.
    Thanks,

    On the headlight gears

    Adam,

If you are going through the trouble of overhauling the headlight motors, put new gears in them. You can turn them around but then you will always have to worry about the position of the gear when you adjust the headlight buckets or pull the motor for some other reason.

I rotated one some years ago on my 67(when the gears were only ($10-$15)and it lasted a few years. I eventually wound up replacing both not remembering which one I had gypo-ed.
