Been reading through the archives regarding re-chroming of mid-year air cleaner lids and the issue of preserving the silkscreened instructions on the underside of mid-year lids.

Is it possible to only re-finish and re-chrome only the top surface of a lid? I saw that Paragon will re-finish and will re-screen the instructions. Anyone with experience with their work.

Any information or suggestions would be appreciated.

Doug, I have seen "masking" done in some industrial applications where chrome plating would cause instrumentation to provide false readings. I believe it can be done, but not I'm sure about the aesthetics of the separation line on an air cleaner lid. As with most things, the outcome probably will have a lot to do with the craftsmanship and interest level of the operator. I would find a potential plater, and discuss the details with him.

I have no experience with Paragon's screened instructions, but their products are typically good quality. Fool ALL the judges ALL the time?...Probably not.

We send a correct but poor condition lid for our 340 solid lifter car to Paragon. They removed the dents, re-chromed, and re-screened. It came out great.
