C1 Nut and Bolts

Recently I tried lightly blasting my old nuts and bolts.
Using low pressure and starburst fine media.
Then applied a light coat of self etching clear mat paint to them.
This gives them a gray cast and is very durable.
They look great my question is..
When it comes time for judging will this be a plus or minus?

No body to metal-plate in your area? You can usually always tell the difference between painting and plating.

Absent judging rules to contrary (e.g., standard deduction tables, specific advice in the Judging Guide), judges view the issue of originality in a 5-axis universe: Finish, Date, Installation, Configuration, Completeness. If the part deviates from know originals in a given category, you lose 20% of the available originality points.

So, if a given fastener is known to have been zinc/cad plated, you painted it rather than had it replated, and judges detect the difference, expect to surrender 20% of the originality points associated with the item....
