    C3 Seats

I just removed the seats and seat belts from my '70 for restoration and have a few questions if anyone out there has restored theirs recently.
First, can anyone recommend a supplier for seat covers, foam, and hardware.
Second, the frames are in pretty good shape except for a little bending around the nut that holds the rubber bumpers in the seat frame. Is there some way to reinforce this area?
    Thanks, Jim

Seat covers, new seat foam, and installation by an experienced person really improves the interior of a Corvette. I used www.ALKnochInteriors.com when I replaced the seatcovers in my 68 convertible over 18 years ago and have no complaints. If my 70 coupe needed replacement of its original leather seat covers I would buy new leather seat covers from Al Knoch. My 68's convertible top was also purchased also and even installed by Al Knoch the owner and still looks great after 18 years.

Distortion of the lower seat frame is relatively common.... It's generally a cinch to fix. Once you've stripped the old fabric and foam from the seat frames, visually inspect the lower frame for broken spot welds and simply repair the welds as required before installing new foam and fabric.

If you need to restore your seat belts I'd recommend Charlie from Seat Belt Sity. I had mine restored recently, and they came out excellent. He's a little pricey though.

Pat, Thank you for the suggestion. I am going to try Ssnake-Oly for the seat belts as I have heard good things about them and they give you a written quote before they do any work.

Thanks Jack, I have stripped one seat and the metal around the nut is cracked and bent slightly. It looks like I can bend it back and tack weld it. I have seen steel plates in some catalogs that can be used to stenghten the seat bottom, but they look like they would interfer with the position of the seat back. I'll try to weld it first.

Thanks Jim, that's the kind of endorsement I was looking for. I'll probably go with Al K. but am going to do the work myself.

I researched Ssnake-Oly too before I chose Seat Belt Sity. The main reason I chose Seat Belt Sity is because he had original webbing. Ssnake-Oly only had reproduction webbing when I called them. Not sure if they have original webbing. Side-by-side there's a difference. Charlie will give you a quote too. I actually drove to Charlie's house to have the work done. Real nice guy, very professional. He's in Bedminster, NJ.
