1959 console hole?

I'm putting the finishing touches on my bare '59 interior prior to painting and I am noticing something I've never noticed before on the radio/heater control console (under the dash in the middle)......On the driver side about two to three inches above the carpet line (near the accelerator), is there supposed to be a 1/2 - 5/8" hole through the fiberglass? I cannot see/find it on any picture or any drawing and I can't figure out what should go in the hole. I'm thinking bubba put it there but I need some confirmation before I fill it. Can someone go to their garage and see?

Just went and looked at my 60. There is a hole in the left side of the console right below the location of the radio. It has a nut fixed on the inside. Might be for cowel lever, i'm not that far yet and thats one of the things i'm missing. No holes at all in the hump on the floor under/behind the console.

I believe Larry is correct. There is a level with a handle that attaches to the cowl vent. It bolts to the side of the center console.

Yes....I have the threaded hole in mine as well. It's located fairly high on the side of the console and is intended for the cowl vent lever arm bracket. The hole I'm talking about is a larger one (about 1/2" - 3/4") lower on the console straight through the fiberglass without threads, about 2" above the U-shaped chrome bezel that separates the fiberglass console and the carpet.

If you did not see this fairly large hole (which I assume you did not) then I must figure that Bubba musta done it.....

Brad,

A good place to mount a CB mic bracket, but the hole seems a little bit too big.
I think Bubba had something mounted there. Maybe someone else on the board can figure it out. Could be a rare option that only Joe Lucia knows about attached there. Doubt it! Bubba's my choice.
