What is this sticker? On my '73 side window.

I have on the passenger's side window of my '73 a sticker one inch wide by 2 inches long. It says:
"Vehicle Processors, Inc. Long Beach, CA, FINAL, Quality Assurance".It has black script on a clear background. What is this and is it an original sticker from the St. Louis Assembly Plant? I believe this side window may have been replaced. I am considering removing this sticker as it is in poor condition, but of course do not want to remove anything that may have been put there by Chevrolet and General Motors.

Thanks in advance for input on this mystery to me.

    Peter-----

I can absolutely guarantee you that the sticker was not placed there by the St. Louis Corvette assembly plant, or, even, any GM entity. It was placed there by exactly who it says-----Vehicle Processors, Inc. of Long Beach, CA.

I strongly suspect that this car was once exported from the US or shipped to Hawaii and somehow found its way back. The sticker was applied at either the time that it was exported or when it was imported back into the country. Typically, preparing cars for export or import is what "vehicle processing" firms do. Of course, they can have other functions, but the fact that this firm is located in Long Beach, CA is a "tip-off" that they're involved in vehicle import/export operations. The Port of Long Beach and the adjacent Port of Los Angeles are the largest port complex in the United States. LOTS of vehicles imported from/to the far east and pacific regions, including the State of Hawaii, pass through the LB/LA Port. At one time, I expect this Corvette was one of those vehicles.

      Attrition

This makes me wonder how many classic Corvettes are leaving the country every year. They are getting harder to find as it is.

        Re: Attrition

Mark, since this car was exported and re-imported through Long Beach, it is most likely a car that followed its owner to Hawaii or the far east and returned. Some military people move their cars to/from Hawaii, but I admit this is more likely to happen with relatively late model cars than with classics. No doubt there is some attrition to foreign buyers, but if it were significant, prices would be climbing faster. You can't find these cars because they're parked in somebody's garage waiting for the death angel to change their destiny.

And how many aren't rotting out next to a garage because the owner will "get around to restoring it someday." I'll bet a month doesn't go by when I don't hear about one of these. They usually deteriorate into little more than parts cars.

Re: It's gone! (the sticker that is)

Thanks guys for solving the mystery.

I have never imported or exported a car before so didn't know much about this. My particular car I have been told has not been outside the United States, but has had a side window replaced so I would imagine this window came from a car that had been exported. This also goes along with the other posts of "Attrition" and parts cars.
