    67 A/C Comp. Pulley

Hi. Can anyone tell me the correct diameter for a 67 A/C compressor pulley? If I remember correctly it is supposed to be a bit larger than most of the replacements sold today. Also, where are the cases dated? Is it a raised date just below the hose connector?

Finally, it looks like there's hardly any clearance to remove the nut from the compressor clutch. Is there a special tool for this?

    thanks in advance!

There are several special tools for the compressor. One holds the clutch while you remove the nut. Another is for installation of the front seal. I am thinking that you can use a regular socket on the nut. It has been over 10 years since I have replaced a clutch and I suffer from a major case of NCRS disease (never can remember squat).

I believe that the clutch on the 67 is the smaller version. The larger version was used on the 64-65 365 hp installations. Maybe Joe Lucia can comment on that.

Brandon - The diameter of the '67 Corvette A/C compressor pulley is 5- 5/8". To the best of my knowledge the case is not specifically dated but the Frigidaire label has a manufacturing/production date for the compressor assembly. The rear plate of the compressor does have a casting date just below the area where the muffler assembly attaches to the rear plate of the compressor assembly. The date is on somekind of removable plate that attaches to the mold with two screws at the end. The format of the date is MDY or MDDY where the month (M) is an alpha character (Jan = A, etc. I probably is not used), the day D (1-9) or DD (10 to EOM), and the year (Y) is the last digit of the year, either 6 or 7 in this case.
