    1960 Rear Crossmember

    I'm installing a new rear crosmember on a 1960 corvette and need information on the tool to install the rivets on it. will buy or rent tool if i can find someone who knows the information. Please...........i need help!

    I've looked at doing his job as well. I think you'll need to take the job to a place that can drive rivetsand has access to a"heat" wrench! A place which repairs truck bodies or farm equiptment comes o mind. Regards,

      Jim, are the rivets domed or are they flat. If they are flat, you can take a torch and heat them until they are cherry red. Install in the frame/crossmember, and use two four pound hammers, one to buck the rivet and one to brad the shank. If they are domed, you may be able to make you a buck block with a recessed dome and do the same. Make sure that you brad them until they are tight.
