    '59 - '61 FI fuel filter element

The Purolator filter #F66202 for a '59 - '61 FI gas inlet canister is no longer available. The CarQuest computer says a crossover Wix filter #85340 will work. It won't.

Can anyone tell me a specific brand and part number that is still available for this application? It would be an open element gas filter about 3.5" long, 2" diameter, and have a 3/8" opening in the top.

Thanks for any help on this. I don't have access to Napa, Fram, or Autolite parts books. I don't remember AC ever offering this particular element although a GF-157 sure sounds like it might fit.

Jerry, I got a filter at NAPA a year or so ago for a 61. Had a little trouble with the gaskets, but finally got it to seal ok. HAve no idea what the pn was, but it was a NAPA brand. No idea who made it.

        Jerry,
A GF-157 fits mine just right.

GF-157 was in fact the original unit and may still be available. AC interchange includes ACE-G6 ADP FG-5, American Parts #155, Atlas FF5, Baldwin PF827, Brockway 221176, Ford C2AZ9155A, C2AZ9365A, C2DE9176A, Hastings GF6A, Quaker State GSCG20, Sears 26281 (not a direct cross) Texaco TG2, Union 76 UF157, maybe others, but a good list to start from. The GF 157 also shows up on ebay occasionally.

Once again, I play the fool.

Thanks everyone for setting me straight. I went out this afternoon and bought several GF-157 elements for about $3 each at the local Delco warehouse. They had 17 in stock. Each came with a new flat faced "o-ring" to seal the two canister halves. These filter elements are now made in Mexico, but they fit just fine.

I thought for years that the Purolator element was the factory "original" part because it is listed in my 1967 Chevrolet P&A Catalog right next to the 7-digit GM part number. The AC number doesn't appear in this catalog for the FI filter application. I swear. Really. I'm not making this up.
