    Selling "as-is and without knowledge"?

There have been several recent eBay auctions for "Corvette FI fuel filters?" with this bizarre phrase in the description. Take a look at #7942654449 for an example.

I asked the seller, a "mollyputts4u", to state the specific sizes of the inlet/outlet fittings. A "Cindy" (AKA Molly?) replied by e-mail that they were both 3/8" female flare nut openings. When I asked her to recheck this because '59 - '61 Corvette FI fuel filters used 5/16" fittings, she never responded. She also didn't add the fitting size to her subsequent filter auction descriptions.

Am I mistaken about this? I thought the 3/8" fitting size was used by Ford on these filters, and that GM used 5/16" fittings when installing this canister on injected '59 through '61 Corvettes. I'm sure Ms. Putts would change her description if she thought she was wrong, so maybe I'm all wet.

      It just gets curiouser

I also asked Molly/Cindy for the brand name on the boxes and the part number of the filter elements inside the canisters. She said the boxes had no brand printed on them, and that these canisters have no filters inside. Whaaaaaat?

I give up; I don't know what she's got for sale. I guess I'm "without knowledge" about these canisters too. I'm certainly "as-is".

I have a new Ford filter

just like the one in the E-bay auction. I acquired it in '67 or '68. I believe it was for a dual quad 427 or the 390 police interceptor.

The fittings on the outside look like 3/4" across flats and the inlet/outlet size is 3/8" female. There is a paper filter cartridge inside with no part number, only the FoMoCo script.

I believe that is what Cootchey-Coo is selling.

Ford 427 used 3/8 fittings for sure.

            A head-scratcher for sure.

If this is a Ford filter and not a Corvette FI item, why doesn't Molly just call it that to avoid mistaken identity purchases? You'd think she would at least state the "knowledge" she does have: the fittings are 3/8" and not 5/16". This is all so confusing to the elderly.

It is just going to be a Christmas surprise for the lucky winner! Happy Bidding! RARE! RARE! RARE!!!! NOS!!!!! BID EARLY AND OFTEN! NO RESERVE! GOOSE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                Jerry,

Cancel your Ebay account immediately and you won't have to worry about such trivial things such as filter elements. You will then NOT know what is for sale on ebay by these moron, misrepresenting sellers. You will also still be without the part you need but in a much better mood.

                Sincerely,

                Dr. Phil!

Merry Christmas and Happy Parts Hunting!
