    65 Convertable top

I am new to your group, I have owned a 65 for a year and had a large Corvette shop in southern California install a new top, car is green and top is tan, the old top was tan inside, new one is black inside, and they painted all the framework black to match. I told them the car was an unrestored original and not to do ANYTHING that was not "as original" the new top is correctly date stamped.
They are telling me the old top was incorrect? Can anyone help with the truth?
I do not think they should have painted the framework black?

I have never seen a mid year Corvette with the top frame any color other than black. I would guess some previous owner painted it tan.

      Jim,

As Bob Rosenblatt mentioned, the frame of the top was originally black. The inside of the canvas would have been tan if the original top was tan. If the new top is tan, the inside should be tan also, not black. If the inside is black, that would be correct for 66, not 65.
