'71 Special Paint

I'm the second owner of a '71 LT-1 which was originally special ordered with Tuxedo Black paint. All of the documentation, including the Bill of Sale, Order Sheet, etc. and the trim tag indicate "Spec. Pnt" Does any member know the production figures for "Special Paint" cars in '71. If so, how many were black LT-1's?

if any one ever finds a 1962 corvette conv painted 1955 chevy anniversary gold that was mine. it arrived at the dealer only 18 days after i ordered it. those where the good old days when your dealer could order any GM color you wanted. i also ordered a 1969 Z-28 painted evening orchid (purple) a buick color.

Seems to me I saw this car while in the possession of the first owner - Kentucky or Tennessee was its home then, if my memory is right.


To the best of my knowledge no numbers exist for 1971 SPL trim code. There is for 1972, but that is close but no cigar.
