    C3 console radio covers?

i was restoring trim stuff today and had a question. on one side of the radio side trim there is an extension and the other side not. there are 4 screw posts on each pannel. ive looked thru the books and dont see anything else that is supposed to be attached to them. so what are the screw posts for? i also found my passenger kick panel looked like someone took a hacksaw to it, but looked in the assembly manual and thats what it said was for the assembly line to cut as per diagram...interesting.
    thaks, dick

When the car was equipped with factory A/C, they, indeed, took a 'hacksaw' to the kick panels to gain clearance on convertibles for the extra, underdash reinforcing braces, used. Same goes for the LH side radio panel--Shark convertibles incorporated a panel extention that screwed to the backside of the stock panel to hide/mask the under-dash reinforcing brace that attached to the transmission tunnel....
