    Transporting using rachet straps?

I'm going to be the moving the 66 a lot soon to start the resto. I haul my tractors all the time using chains.
I'm going to purchase four ratchet straps to haul the midyear.
I've seen similar looking straps with breaking rating from 1000 to 10000 lbs.
    What do you recommend?

I never looked at the strap rateing that I bought and used years ago but I did find that if I put the parking brake on and then tightend the car down then put it in park or gear it stayed tight. If you let them rock in gear or park that little bit of slop let the straps come loose. Also some guy's like to cross the straps from side to side but they are alot stronger with a straight pull ( I think I read the straps crossed loose about 30% holding power).

    Hope this helps.

    Bob

Minimum 5000 lb straps, at 4 corners,SNUG. Watch you don't overetighten, just tighten enough to set the car down on the springs. Straight ahead, if possible and don't let the straps flap in the breeze, they'll be scrap in a 100 miles

            Re: towing in gear?

We have always towed race cars in neutral. Thought this would be less ware on the engine.
