Re: Will Chevy compete with new mustang?

You guys all have good ideas and have read between the lines as to what GM is doing. As history has shown us GM has made reactive instead of proactive responces to other car manufactures moves in the market place. Then when the General decided to put out a competive product they are always behind and the vehicle always suffers. Case in point. GTO. A name plate with a proud heritage. But because the marketing department or vice president wants a quick muscle car they take a platform already in use throw a vette engine in it with the original name badge from the original Goat and all of a sudden you have a muscle car. That is the negitive when you are reactive. I am Just like everyone that is on this site I like my GM Vehicles. I speak passionately about my 1966 Corvette and I love every bit Of GM or Corvette history I can read. I use to work for Chevrolet Motor Division. Unfortunately GM has forgotten its heritage, and builds cars by way of bean counters not styling and design. I just wish they would get back to basics and build some nice cars. Right now in my humble opinion they build vettes. The Chevrolet truck front end suck. I have a New GMC because of that horible front end. It is ashame that Chevrolet Doesn't read the writing on the wall. If for some reason they did bring back the camaro I am afraid of what it might look like. My guess ! A front wheel drive cavalier! One last thing. We should all be very lucky for professionals like Harley Earl, Bill Mitchell and of course Zora Duntov.

GM sales and stock prices reflect the "excellent" design department they have allowed themselves to develop. When the stockholders hold the management accountable or they get to the point where a buy out is possible it will change. Loss of jobs at the top is the only answer.

        GM... We hardly knew ye.

I had high hopes for their post-P&G management team to turn things around there. I really thought Lutz would bring back the days of beautiful, fun cars built for people with gasoline in their veins. But instead, the current GM management is showing no interest in wooing buyers like me.

The 2005 GM models are as appealing as a new washing machine or a box of Kleenix. Just something else that you buy only if you must, and then consume until it's thrown away.

Maybe that's exactly what the Gen ? crowd wants in a passenger car. However, me and my disposable income are looking elsewhere. Ford and Chrysler still think that cars should be fun. Just speaking frankly, I think my wrinkled ass would look good in a new Ford GT. And if I install an aluminum 400 small block with a 5-speed in a new Jag convertible, now that's what I'm talking about....
