    Holley 4150/2818 questions

My rear bowl is leaking and I bought this rebuild kit.

When I took the rear bowl off, I noticed the needle valve in the kit is different than the one coming out of my carb. Did I get the wrong kit or is this one of those updated things? In the picture, the one on the left is the new one, and the one on the right is original.

If its an update, how does it work? It looks too short.

Also, in the pic, the piece of metal on the right of the needle valves fell out, how does that go back in? I cannot find it in a diagrahm.

correction i read your post wrong

the correct one is on the left and if you did have the type on the right in your carb you will need a holley adjutment nut and a lock screw to use the correct N/S

Yes, the one on the right was in the carb, with the metal baffle. The one on the left was in the kit.

the one on the right is from a aftermarket kit and you will need holley part # 34-7 which will include the correct adjustabable needle and seat hardware to install the correct N/S. the brass piece is a fuel baffle that is inserted around the needle and seat in the float bowl. it slips into the area near the top of the float bowl with the "U" shaped opening facing downward. most speed shops should have or can order the holley part #34-7 and if your front float bowl has the same type N/S as the rear you will need 2 of #34-7 if you plan to change the front N/S to the correct one

Thanks, I assume N/S means not stock? I would like to have it back to stock, So i will grab those from the Holley place here. Any idea why stock there was no baffle and not stock they put a baffle in?

N/S means needle and seat and the baffles are stock in the carbs from the factory. sorry about the confusion as i am a 2 finger typer and i use shortcuts to cut down on the typing and that is also why i do not use caps when i type.

                  Holley carburetor

OK Thanks, Now the next question is, the N/S assembly is shorter than the old one, how does the correct one screw in and get adjusted? When I put it in the bowl, its way off from the float, do I just bend the float tab back up to make it fit?

                    Re: Holley carburetor

wait till you get the holley parts and then check to see where you are at with the adjustment.
