In addition to the black phos bolts with washers attached, the AIM and most catalogs show additional separate flat washers to mount the battery tray. Are these washers also black phos, zinc or bare?

Re: '64 Battery Tray Flat Washer Finish
Scott,
On my 63 I used indented head bolts with attached lock washers that I purchased from Paragon. These bolts have the anchor headmark and are the correct repro. bolts for the front strut rod but I believe are also the correct size and configuration as the battery tray bolts. I have two old battery tray bolts that came with my 63 and they have indented head and a E in the center with two circles and attached lock washer. These original bolts are course thread 5/16" x 3/4" long and the repro bolts are about 7/8" long. There is also a large flat washer that goes over the lock washer on all four bolts. This washer is 1" in diameter with a 5/16" hole in the middle but is thicker than a regular 5/16" washer at about 3/32" thick. I also believe these bolts were black in finish but I'm not sure about that. Hope this helps, Timothy Barbieri- Top

Re: '64 Battery Tray Flat Washer Finish
Tim, It's the finish of the 1" flat washer that I'm asking about. In your last sentence it looks like you mean to say that the flat washers (in addition to the bolts)are black. Do I understand correctly? Thanks for the help.- Top

Re: '64 Battery Tray Flat Washer Finish
Scott,
That is the way I did mine, both the bolt and the 1" washer are black plated. The judging guide dosen't say anything about the large washer but it does say the bolt is black phosphate so usually if one is black than I would assume the other is also. Tim- Top
