    Pilot Bearing Misery

The problem is a stuck pilot roller bearing, not a bronze bushing. All conventional methods have been tried with no success - packing the end of crank with water or grease and smacking with a proper push rod, slide hammer from autozone as well as a bearing puller from harbor freight tools. A new tool, called a Springer tool, is a threaded bolt through a metal set of "fingers" that grab the bottom of the bearing and extract it as the bolt bottoms out on the face of the crank. This really grabbed the bearing, until the threads of the bolt stripped and the fingers bent. The bearing is hardened steel that eats hacksaw blades. Someone told me to heat it up glowing red then smack it with a chisel. Good Idea? Thanks Again.
