Lyndon:
A couple thousand miles a year usually. No I don't like them, they wander all over the road, especially if not smooth. However they are absolutely correct for the car, and I like having the car that way, for now I just put up with it.- Top

Re: Tires
Lyndon,
For shows, I use the stock reproduction tires mounted on the original rims. About five years ago, I installed the stock reproduction F 70 15 Speedway tires that I purchased from Kelsey Tire in Camdenton, MO (kelseytire.com). These are nearly exactly like those originally installed in our 68-72 Corvettes. I drove the car until the tires wore out. As Warren said, they tended to wander on the road and were affected by any imperfections in the road. That's the way the tires were back in that era.
For every day driving, I now have Goodyear GT+4 Radials (205 70 15s) mounted on another set of original styly rally rims. The radials are much more stable and safer to drive than the OEM style tires, especially long distances. However, I like the look of the originals better.
So, for shows, it the originals, but for every day driving, I use modern technology.Tony- Top

Re: Tires
Lyndon on my 68 I have 235/70-15 Goodyears that I don't believe are avialable anymore. Have had them 12-13 years with a lot of tread left. My 70 has 255/60-15 and are Goodyear GT's. These need replacing soon, getting close to the tread wear indicators and still look good on the sides. I will continue to use the 255/60-15 size for replacements. Best tires I ever put on the 68 were Goodyear GT that were made with flexton belts. The tires they replaced were really hard and the GT's made the car seem like it was floating down the road, really liked them. Don't know why Goodyear stopped making the flexton radials.- Top
