    Wow, Auction repeat

Just saw 59 sell for $110,000 on BJ auction repeat. Nice car but, except appearance, not correct at all. Poor Trunk and door fit. Wow!

Do you think it was just because the guy who bought the car was a wealthy baseball fan ,as he later stated ? Star struck so to speak, or do you think it is a barometer of the future value of 1950 era cars.
    Thanks,
    Deb

Must be ignorance! When I drive my flawless (to the novice eye) and not all-original red '57 into a drive-in hamburger joint, I'm often approached by several folks wanting to know what it's worth. I usually say "about $50,000". Most people are surprised to hear this, expecting it to be in 6 figures! I'm quick to follow with: "But it's not for sale at any price - well, ALMOST any price!"

I was watching a few minutes of the auction last evening and a 1963 SWC came on the block. It went for over $130,000. The announcers stated it was a GM show car with one of a kind rockers. Does anyone have additional information on this car?

It had the wrong wheels, for one thing.

That was sort of like the 65 big block that they auctioned a couple of years ago as a "numbers matching guaranteed original motor car" and the build date was Oct 64......about 5 months before the 396 even came out!! The guy paid around $150K if I remember correctly.!!!!

You need to REMEMBER %90 of people at Auction go by looks and prettiness NOT correctness .
I've sold Corvettes at Auction %90 incorrect but she is %90 pretty for more then any Corvette nut would ever pay.
If she is pretty , who cares if she has any brains. Op's that makes me a showiness Corvette pig.

"Pretty and shiny" sold well @ BJ.

That explains why a custom hot rod sold for $400k!

                      E-bay Screw Driver

How about the 1967 repro bolt on screw driver that sold on E-bay for $545.00(7943456802)
Must have been a nice one.

Since all of you were watching

a friend asked me about the '65 or '66 race car that sold. Dark blue, Sunoco lettering.

I assume it was a replica of the Penske '66 big block but I didn't see the auction.

Anyone see it and know more details?

I think the Dept. of Defense bought the screwdriver as a demo. If it works right they will order 10,000 more for a grand each!!!
