    C2 headlight rotation

Happy New Year, I got out the C2 yesterday to install correct T-3 high beams. I'm sticking with my Halogens for low beam driving. The headlight rotation switch would not function. Has anyone had this problem before and know what is likely to have malfunctioned or any idea's where to start? thanks in advance Dale

    Dale,
I had a similar problem with my headlight switch last year. Try this first before you order new parts...remove the switch from the dashboard and take it apart...it looks like it is riveted together, but it is not. I forget exactly how it comes apart, but if I remember right, there are two clips that hold the two halves together. Once apart, clean the brass contacts with some steel wool and put it back together, reinstall. The process may take 10 minutes, and is pretty easy. Maybe one of the experts can give you more details about how the switch comes apart...good luck. Andy

Dale, the switch is a great place to start, but disconnect the battery first.

Gordon is on the right track, check to see if you have power at the switch, Assuming you have verified power at the switch, then use a jumper to see if you can activate the motors bypassing the switch. If you can bypass the switch and activate the motors successfully, then look into the switch. If not, check the wiring/connections going foreward especially the connections at the front of dash in the engine compartment.

if you disassemble the switch to clean the contacts, be certain to coat em with silicone dielectric grease/paste. also use dielectric paste on the firewall plug connection per clup's post. use it anywhere that you want to prevent oxidation and yet allow the little electrons to jump the connection.mikie

              Re: Check Your Fuses FIRST!!

The headlight motor operating circuit isn't fused - it's fed full-time battery power through a 30-amp circuit breaker just above the driver's side kickpad.

I just restored my '67 headlight motors and there is also a "points" type SS circuit breaker in the motor located just above the armature, next to the brushes. PT
