    67 steering column disassembly Q.

Hi. I'm trying to get my 67 column apart (non-tele) to change the turn signal switch and detail it. I pulled the large nut and washer off, but there appears to be a very thin nut right on top of the hub. I haven't been able to get this off because it is so thin and the socket slip right off. Is this supposed to come off or it is part of the hub? Do I use a puller to get the hub off? Any help is appreciated!

    thanks, Brandon

i've restored both the 1st and 2nd desing 67 non-telle col's and there's been but one nut(takes a 3/4" socket) holding hub on col shaft. you will need a puller. there are threads already tapped in the hub--as i recall they're tapped for 1/4" fine thread bolts. good luck, mike PS -now'd be a good time to check the upper and lower shaft to col bearings-they're notorous for grenading. believe long island has bearing for both design col's.

      Brandon,

Mike is right on with the info he has shared. I just wanted to add that Corvette Steering was able to help me out with the bearing parts. Mine is the 2nd design and the upper bearings are hard to find.
