    Chevy Orange Paint

Who makes a good Chevy orange that is not red/orange, I am on my last can of Chevy orange, it is at least 5 years old, and it looks great, it is tempo brand, engine enamel, I just bought a can of dupli color, and i feel it is to red. I dont even know if Tempo is still around...Any suggestions on a good durable, chevy orange, spray can engine enamel that I can buy in a local store???

          Dave-----

The good "Chevy Orange" paint IS "red/orange". The "Chevy Orange" paint changed over the years. For most years, there was a lot of red in it. For about 1963-65, especially, there was probably more red in it than orange. In fact, the color description printed on the label for the "Chevy Orange" paint available from GM for MANY years (through, at least, the late 80s) said "RED".

I understand that you're trying to match what you've got rather than being interested in the authentic, original color used for your year model. However, whatever paint you get is unlikley to match what you've got on the engine now due to a variety of factors.

To my eye, it appears more orange than red.

I used the DupliColor paint and it seemed to me to be 'oranger' than normal. This paint turned out to be a lot more orange than I thought it would be.

                    Dave,
Duplicolor has Chevrolet orange/red and orange. The orange only is no. 1620, the orange/red is 1607 and is probably what you have.
