67 vet black black 435 too good to be true?

Hello everyone, i am looking at a black black 435 withh great options. I have been told that therre is any easy way to determine if the trim tag is original, can anyone give me the short story on how to tell? No docs with this car and of course its claimed to be "all original". thanks for your help

    Tony,

Buy the trim tag book from Eric at the NCRS store. It's got all the details and he can probably have it to you by the end of the week.

My understanding is that the trim tags, machine to stamp them, as well as the original rivets are available, so I guess without paperwork or owner history all you can do is determine if the trim tag(s) appear original and go from there. If they do, and there are no previous owners or paperwork to indicate otherwise, I'm not sure it matters.

        Tony,

With regard to the original black body color, you can probably find some areas on the birdcage frame that will still have original factory body overspray on them, if the car hasn't been dissmantled for a complete restoration, body off, interior, etc. Check behind the kick panels on both the driver and passenger sides and under the dash on the left side where the bulb is that illuminates when the door is ajar.

Tony, if you will purchase the Manual as Patrick suggested, and study it, you will learn that the state of the art of repro trim tags is not up to the state of the art of detection of them. I character variations will be very hard to replicate. A book well worth the money for owners and owners to be to study and become intimately familiar with. Could save a lot of heart aches in the future

            Re: Trim Tags and color

Repro trim tags are easy to spot if you know what to look for.I just varified one for a guy who was trying to buy this 67 435. Totally bogus tag! Saved him $80K!
I like to look down inside the door window channel for color changes/ overspray.
