    L-72 Heat Riser Valve Question

    Hi All,

    Ref. '66 L-72 Sidepipe car.

Happy New Year. I'm doing some work to my exhaust manifolds and I have the spacer in place of the heat riser valve. Do I need a heat riser? Would there be any benefit/downside to installing one vs. the spacer.

I understand the heat riser only helps to warm the engine up faster and to aid drivability when the engine is cold.

I'm in southern Ontario, so the car is only driven in summer months.
As usual, thank-you for your help.

    Kurt

    Kurt,

Although you are not factory correct and if judged will take a hit, from the way you described how you use your car you should be just fine if your not having any driveability issues forget the heat riser and your exhaust will last longer.

I agree with Wayne. The only thing you would gain with a functioning heat riser on an L72 would be a new rattle at idle.
