    1957-58 T-10 Sidecover

Why would someone pay $1,500 for an NOS GM #3744961 sidecover (eBay #4514710282)? I realize that this piece is NOS and that the 57-58 T-10 sidecover was unique (but, weak!). Undoubtedly, there aren't too many of these still around even in used condition (most have likely broken by now), but it seems absurd, to me, to pay this much money for a few judging points and still end up with a weak and inferior transmission component.

Perhaps, I just don't understand the "T-10 market".

    Joe,

You and I understand the T-10 market. It's just the people with that much money we don't understand.

Hell, I had a bad one one my 57 T-10 and just ground off the reinforcements on a later one and bam it was a 57. The date is on the inside!

And I have a Muncie in my 56, so I don't have to worry about ANY points being deducted from an incorrect T-10 side cover.

The same kind of nutball that pays $1,600.00 for a '69 Camaro NOS backdrive linkage rod (from the reverse lever to the bellcrank on the subframe); that one went over the weekend. Still doesn't beat the $3,500.00 NOS '69 Camaro sill plates that went last year (they're still available from GM for $62.00).
