      Hi George :

Four years ago there wasn't. When I restored my 69 I researched every major exhaust manufacturer in the U.S. to no avail. Found a local custom exhaust builder that said he would build a set for $1,500.00, the only other option was fabricating an "S" pipe, not real efficient.

        Thankx Wally & Jerry....

I'll pass the info to my friend. I mentioned to him this may be a problem, and the only soution would be to go to Corsa, about 15 min. drive from my house. Corsa will use my friend's 454 18' boat to make & market marine headers, so maybe he can con them into making shorty's to fit factory side pipes.

When we go to Corsa, we drop in at Mallet, 1 minute walk from Corsa, and check out his latest prjects and customer cars. His place is as sterile as an E.R.

Yes, there is someone currently making these, but only for small blocks. Headers by Ed. Check out the link below. The pictures of their stuff are gorgeous. I may buy a set just to look at.

Odd "NOT" George Hooker makes a set but you have to connect them by cutting off the pipe. I did one for my buddies 67 BB. I installed the headers then took the car to a "CAR GUY" type muffler shop. They cut the side pipe at the very end of the muffler(where it was welded by the side pipe maker)Then he bent a pipe to fit between it and the header and welded it. ( I used a set of small block pipes and kept the BB for me for doing the work) They charge $100.00.The headers were exp. he got the coded ones $550.00 I think. Phil #8063. PS If you cant find them E-me back and I'll get the part # for you.

              Hi Phil:

Dosen't this system put the collector outside the body as it does with the original Hooker system ? If so the stock 69 cover/hear sheild isn't large enough to cover it, or am I misreading the description ?

Re: Got an odd ball request....Hedman

Hi Jerry I was talking mid years(63-67) I was wrong about the brand. I put hooker headers in my truck and Hedman headers in the vet. There is no collector box, For info Hedman Husler Hedders phone # 562-921-0404. You can't tell by looking at the car if it has headers(mid years)Phil

Hi George Sorry I was mistaken, Hedman makes the headers (63-67) I got them from Summit performance. Hedman #562-921-0404.Phil

                    Hi Phil:

I must admit I've never seen or heard of them, I am fimilar with Headman, (don't recall what they told me at the time) but I would like to see this setup

                      Have A Set.

                      George,

I have a set of BB headers/factory chambered side exhaust that came with a 66 I used to have. I recently switched the factory manifolds/side pipes on my 67 L71 to see what improvement they would make versus stock exhaust.

Don't know what brand they are. They exit sideways with no collector. The "factory" chambered exhaust were cut at the front and a pipe welded and bent to meet the header with a 3 bolt flange.

I can tell you they make a HUGE difference in performance (see earlier post regarding new rear end). Sound is similar at idle but sound like music at higher rpms.

They are louder than factory side exhaust, if that's possible. After 20-30 miles at highway speeds my ears start to ring - literally.

I will probably be parting with these in the next couple of months. If you're interested, email me direct.
