I agree with Mike, looks like mid 50's Olds hood emblem.

          Mike,

I understand Olds sales were declining but I still think they killed the wrong brand. GM now has too much brand overlap, confusing buyers. Maybe they should have kept Olds and killed Buick and Pontiac and had three distinct brands.

Maybe they will bring back the Olds name someday.....

Buick was making money with an established, but old, but with lots of cash customers. These older (average age mid 60's) folks are getting older and the Buick customers average age was going up every year which is not good if it goes on too long. That is why the Rendezvous was brought in. It attracted younger customers (40's, 50's) but, somewhat of a surprize, the older Buick customers were also buying it. Now the Rainier which is also bringing in younger folks.

The issue at Buick is that they were doing there job too well. Cars (LeSabre, Park Avenue, Century) were designed specifically for older customers and they bought them in droves. Now Buick is going after younger folks by designing and promoting Premium qualities. Time will tell if it will work. Watch for the new LeSabre replacement.

Olds did try and go younger but basically told their established older customers to go away. Their new cars were nice but they could not convince the customers to buy.
