I'm very interested in looking at photos that can help me to further identify and understand the Evaporative Control System and Transmission Controlled Spark set up for my 1974, LS4, with M21 manual transmission. Between the description in the TIM & JG, and the limited clarity of the photos in the Assembly & Chassis Service Manuals, I'm hoping to view any additional photos that will help me expand my understanding for the "correct" setup of these components. Feel free to post or send under separate e-mail. Thanks...

Re: Photos of 1974 LS4
Ray,
Two locations I can think of:
1. Purchase MF Dobbins' 73-77 book if you don't already have it. While I don't own that one, I do own the 63-67 and 68-72 books, and based on what is in those I suspect you will have some luck.
2. Check out some of the diagrams in Doc Rebuild's catalog or on his web site.
Also, what "correct" setup are you trying to achieve? Or, better yet, what parts can't you place?

Re: Photos of 1974 LS4
Patrick,
I do not have the MF Dobbins book...yet. I neglected to mention that I've viewed Doc Rebuild's catalog, which has been most helpful. As for "correct", I'm trying to achieve an original setup as per the description outlined in the '73-'74 TIM & JG. I was hoping to get a view of the Spark Control Solenoid and its mounting bracket, various hose originations coming off the carburetor, T above PCV valve, etc. I'm sure that even with additional photos, there will be nothing better than getting the opportunity to view this up front and personal.
Thanks,

Re: Photos of 1974 LS4
Dobbins 73-77 has a couple of nice photos for a 74 L82 that shows the solenoid and bracket. Another shows the "T" coming off the PCV, shows some nice detail.Tom Russo

Re: Photos of 1974 LS4
Ray, Patrick - a little bit off topic; I just became a member. Would you be so kind to help me out on this one; what is Doc Rebuild's catalog and where can I find it?
Many thanks,
Erik

Re: Photos of 1974 LS4
If you still need help, I own an LS4 with automatic trans. I have attached a link to an online album. This won't have the specific details you want, it will show you what you can expect to see. Right now its 10 degrees here (Detroit 'burbs). If an automatic will work, I'll take some digital shots in a day or so.

Re: Photos of 1974 LS4
Lee,
If you get an opportunity to take some additional digital shots, yes, I would be very interested in viewing them. If it's not too much trouble, a few with the air cleaner removed would be great. Since my original post, I've viewed Doc Rebuilds diagrams of the vacuum advance lines connected to the distributor, spark solenoid, and carburetor...comparing them to the AIM Manual...further comparing to the detail and explainations noted in the TIM & JG. If I'm not mistaken, the description of the LS4 vacuum advance lines on page 72 appear to describe an automatic transmission setup? I'm still not clear on the exact correct setup, but I'm hopeful that someone with an LS4, Standard, will take the same time as you did, to shoot and post some photos of their engine compartment.
Thanks again...
