    C2 seat foam

I have attached a link to photos of new seat bottom foam I bought. One of the pieces has an imperfection in it, and I was wondering if it is anything to worry about. There is a Y shaped crevice that is filled with foam but appears to be missing some of the strengthening (?) material that surrounds it. This may be commonplace, but since it's my first set of seats, I thought I would ask.

since the flaws of the foam are on the underside, and since they don't appear to be too deep in the foam, doubt the flaws will impact appearance once covers are installed. BTW, it appears , from your photos,Ecklers consider the 63 and 64 seat bottom foams to be identical(which they are) but the seat back foam on a 63 is much thinner at its top than the 64 foam.mike

      Steve,

Shouldn't be a problem, but I hope your foam is not too fat. One of the most difficult things I've ever tried to do is to stuff new foam in new seat cover bottoms on a 67 during the winter in a cold garage. Tried the heat gun on the vinyl to no avail. Almost dislocated my shoulder pulling the damn clips through and broke about a quarter of them. Couldn't get the bottoms stretched enough fore and aft.

I admit I finally gave up on the bottoms, the backs were not such a problem.
I wound up reusing my original bottom foam and augmented them with sheet foam used for camping sleeping pads. I stored the seat foam for another day. On some hot summer day, I'll try again, once the covers stretch out, and my shoulder heals!

Hopefully, the 63 seat covers and foam are different from the 67's. I just thought I'd share this story. Have fun!
