Spare tire tub date/part number stamp

Is there any way to replace the date/part number stamp located in the spare tire tub? It is not a stencil...it appears to be a stamp.

I have called Quanta Products and they said that they discontinued production of a kit because of no interest.

Any advice or info would be appreciated.

The place I'd expect to find such a factory concours specific item as this (Long Island Catalog, Section 2, Decals and Stamps) surprised me by NOT having an offering! Absent an off-the-shelf source, why not go the route other serious restorers take?

Find an original stamp to document. Take a digital picture of it with a ruler in the frame for size reference. Visit your local office supply store where they routinely make custom rubber stamps up for $2-5 and have your stamp built with the date of your choice!

In my observation, it appears to be made by a run-of-the-mill stamp with the scrolling month/day/year positions. It should be easy to copy or mimic. Think of a daub or smear of white paint with the stamp smashed into the center of it to imprint the date.

        Thanks,

I will find a good clear example of a stamp from someone locally and have a stamp made. Nolan Adams Book and The Corvette Fact Book do not have any picts of the date.

Generic block lettering 1/4 inch tall should do the job. Pick a "square" appearing sans-serif font and you'll be fine.

Looks like the old pricing stamp that was used at any old store.

An off white latex household paint works well as your ink.

                  Re: Tub date judging

You can find a bunch of "ROCKWELL" logo's with a week of the year date code in many C-3 cars'Spare tire tubs( fiberglassed in). The problem is that the logo's are on only some of the cars, so the date/ logo is not judged. I would think the stamped-on info. is not judged either.

                    Dwight,
Here's a tire tub pic of my Dec.19th,1966 built coupe. It is stamped 'Dec 16 1966'. Good luck with your stamp!

It was just a store bought stamp, finding one with 1966 now that's a different story.
