    when you put in a new trans yoke should you have the drive shaft an the yoke re-balanced? together ?

      if its a driver, probably wopuldn't but if the vet is to speeds over 80, i'd have it balanced. are there any tabs welded on the end of the shaft or any evidence of spot wleds that might have been used to weld on a balance tab? if there are spot welds and the tab's missing, definitly needs rebalanced. mike

        The driveshaft was originally balanced with the u-joints and yoke as a complete assembly. Therefore, the weights that are on the shaft are the weights that were placed there to balance the ASSEMBLY, not the driveshaft component of the assembly, alone. If you change any part of the assembly, then the assembly should be re-balanced.
