I understand the Panama code, the interior red code (maybe same as exterior red) I would like is for a '56. I believe that is Venetian. Is that 59388 ?

The information that I provided was from Complete Owner's handbook 1955-1962. There is a page with paint colors by manufactures with numbers for interior and exterior colors. The paint listings are also broken up into acrylic and regular lacquers. I did not provide the colors numbers for regular lacquers because I believe that they are impossible to purchase. The color name for 58 is listed as Signet Red for interior and exterior lacquers. At the bottom of the interior listing it states; to reduce gloss add Du Pont 4528 "DUCO" lacquer flattening compound or equivalent. Is it possible that when the interior colors were supplied that there was a reduction in sheen? Thus a different paint number, but the same color. I noticed that the Du Pont interior-exterior number was the same. The Corvette Black Book also lists Signet Red for the 58.

Sorry! Mike my error; you were looking for 56 red interior not 58.

The "flattener" was only used for the top of the instrument panel, between the eyebrow pad and the base of the windshield; the rest of the interior was exterior lacquer that wasn't buffed.
