...I need your help. I am attempting to gather enough information (in a database format) to determine when the 427 block changed over from P/N 3916321 to P/N 3935439. In my limited research to date, I haven't been able to determine the approximate change-over date.
I started this because I have an L-71 (build date I06) without an engine. I suspect it takes the "early" block, but wanted to confirm it.
Originally, I was going to find the answer just to restore my car to "original", however, after joining NCRS and seeing that there still was alot of research needed, especially on 68's, I expanded my project.
Eventually, I want to create a database to encompass part change-overs from 67 through 69's that I could share with everyone.
But, I need your help. If you own a 68 427, I request the following information: engine block part number, assembly date, vehicle build date, intake manifold part number, and VIN. I know some people are apprehensive about their VIN's, so if you want you can round to the nearest hundred (i.e., 3456 to 3500). If your round, please let me know so I can note it properly.
Thanks.
