First I want to thank all those who are always willing to share their technical knowledge. Truly appreciated. As a "newbie" seems like I am asking about 10 times for each helpful answer I can provide.
For the benefit of other "mechanically less inclined" please let me at least tell you what NOT to do.
During my instrumentent cluster replacement, I thought I would also replace the oil line as reuse of the existing copper line was not recommended. I would not have been too proud to have read the directions but there were none. When I installed the oil line at the engine I didn't look that closely at how the fitting worked. I installed the line until it bottomed out but my immediate thought was that I was blocking the oil entrance to the line and I would get erroneous readings. So I raised the line from the full seated position about a 1/8" and tightened the nut. I now realize the line bottoms out in a tapered hole. When I tightened the fitting it was compressing on air instead of the tube as I now know. I was also careless enough not to pull on the line to verify tightness.
On start up the oil line immediately blew off and oil spewed everywhere. Took me all day to clean up the mess including the ceiling!!!
